The British Embassy in Luanda does not issue passports. However, applications for passports, whether for the first time or as a straightforward renewal are accepted by the Consular Section. Full documentary evidence of the applicant's eligibility for British passport facilities will be required. After preliminary local checks all applications are sent to the British High Commission Pretoria for issue.
In case of an extreme emergency where time does not permit a full passport to be issued, an emergency passport valid for one journey to the UK may be issued after carrying out local checks. In some cases, where previous passports are not available, more thorough checks with the UK Passport Service have to be completed before such a travel document can be issued.
If you require urgent consular advice or assistance, outside normal working hours please contact the duty officer on +244 222 334582/3. Please note that this service is only for use by British nationals in an emergency situation and must not be used if you require routine guidance or advice.
